Malý Štrbský maratón

The Malý Štrbský Marathon is a traditional running race held every year on the second Sunday in July in the village of Štrba beneath the Tatras. Runners can choose between two main distances—31 km and 10 km—on an asphalt road between Štrba and Liptovská Teplička. The event is part of the Tatry v pohybe project and attracts runners from several countries. The atmosphere in the square in front of the Cultural Centre is always lively and full of sporting spirit. The organisers are the Municipality of Štrba, the Municipality of Liptovská Teplička and Športový klub Štrba.

The total participant limit is 500, with priority given to the 31 km race (limit of 200) and the 10 km race (limit of 300). The race takes place without road closures, so extra caution is required. Medical services are provided by Tatranská horská služba, NsP Poprad and the local Red Cross. Runners take part at their own risk. The organiser provides transport from selected train services from Tatranská Štrba. The event includes 48 km, 10 km and children’s races; it is part of the East Slovak Youth Running League; registration has set deadlines and age categories; Nordic Walking is also part of the event.
